Why was the St. Louis Adolescent Female Sports Medicine Initiative (STLFSMI) created?

Brooke Kalisiak and Sylvia Czuppon, both physical therapists in the region, have a strong interest in female athletes. In 2016, we started talking about developing monthly community outreach education sessions during the school year for parents and coaches of adolescent female athletes in the St. Louis region. The goal was to improve the public's knowledge about issues SPECIFIC to female athletes, but to make sure the access to this information was FREE.

To date, we have had speakers on a variety of topics from nutrition to injury prevention to pelvic health, just to name a few. The majority of our speakers are local health professionals in the St. Louis region who graciously volunteer their time to share their knowledge with our community.
